Recently, a petition to ban a TikToker @OnlyJayus from the platform has reached 400k signatures. The TikToker’s name is Isabella Avila and has been recently called out for frequent racist or ableist comments. The person who started the petition is Vanellope Von Adams writes “OnlyJayus (aka Isabella Avila) needs to be banned from TikTok. They have been caught and called out multiple times for mistreating disabled creators and creators of color.” According to Adam’s post, Avila was in a scandal earlier this year for racist remarks that she apologized for, but it has now come out that her apology was written by a ghostwriter. She has also been called out for joking about robbing disabled people and hosting rigged giveaways.
On Avila’s second TikTok account, she responds to the petition and mocks it, jokingly asking “what am I going to do?” and noting that if the petition were to get more signatures, she promises to “ban” herself. Many called her out for posting this on her second account that has fewer followers than her main, pointing to the fact that she might truly be scared that the petition could reach the number of signatures needed.
TikTok user @auntkaren0, who is known for originally calling out and responding to Avila during the first scandal in February, responded to this video. In particular, she responded to a comment that she made that says she is getting in so much trouble because she is a successful girl and people don’t “like this.” @Auntkaren0 notes that Avila is her “own worst enemy” and that Avila refuses to “apologize and mean what you say.”
Many on TikTok have a problem with @onlyjayus, which is why the original petition has over 400,000 signatures. However, for whatever reason, this creator continues to gain followers, with a daily average of 60,000 per day. TikTok user @auntkaren0 asked her followers why we as users continue to let other users “walk all over us.”
