Are you bored at home and looking for something to watch? Well if you’re a fan of The Princess Bride, you just struck the jackpot. Some of our favorite Hollywood stars have been working together to create a homemade version of the 1987 classic, with their own quarantine-edition spin of course. The remake will not be a movie but rather a series of episodes on Quibi. The platform will release a new episode every day for the next two weeks., starting today.
Many actors are taking on the same roles and adding their own twist to them, reenacting multiple scenes all from the safety of their own homes. Hugh Jackman features as antagonist Prince Humpernick while Jennifer Garner and Tiffany Haddish both take on the role of Princess Buttercup.

Only @jasonreitman could talk me…and @tiffanyhaddish…and @joejonas into playing Princess Buttercup from home. You can find all of us (and so many more Buttercups and Westleys) on @quibi, who, all swashbuckling aside, donated a million dollars to @WCKitchen to feed people during the Covid crisis. ♥️ Thank you for the reason to play dress up and have a laugh—you are the best, Jason. Celebrity couple Joe Jonas and his wife Sophie Turner add a whole new and entertaining dimension to the project. For starters, Jonas plays Buttercup while the Game of Thrones actress plays the mustachioed Westley. They even recruited their corgi to join in on the fun and the dog stars as a fearsome rodent of unusual size.

Calling all #ThePrincessBride fans: Hollywood A-listers—including Sophie Turner, Hugh Jackman, Tiffany Haddish, Joe Jonas, Jennifer Garner, and (many) more—have spent quarantine secretly making a homemade version of the classic film to benefit the World Central Kitchen. At the link in bio, filmmaker @JasonReitman reveals how the project came together—and debuts more must-see footage.
Josh Gad assumes the role of the boy whose grandfather tells the story. Meanwhile, Rob Reiner, director of the original film plays the grandfather. “I wouldn’t think this is the best way to introduce someone to the film. If you already know the movie, that’s what makes it fun,” Reiner told Vanity Fair. “The audience already knows every line. I had no reservations. I was like, ‘Nah, let’s do it!’”
The star studded cast list doesn’t stop there. Also featured in this unique project are Neil Patrick Harris and his husband David Burtka, along with Jon Hamm, Patton Oswalt, Beanie Feldstein, Jack Black, Chris Pine, Taika Waititi, Zazie Beetz, Keegan-Michael Key, David Oyelowo and many more.
What’s more, they intend to do more than just provide entertainment. This remake raises $1 million dollars for the World Central Kitchen through a donation from Quibi. The project is the brainchild of director Jason Reitman who told Vanity Fair “The week that the stay-at-home order came through in California, I just woke up one of the first mornings, I think like most people did, feeling as though … I need to be able to do something of value.”
He went on to say, “I just thought, ‘Can we remake an entire movie at home?’ And I had seen that a fan-made Star Wars had been done. I just started reaching out to actors I knew, saying, ‘Is this something you’d want to do?’ And the response was kind of immediate and fast. It was like, ‘Oh — that sounds like fun.’”
The first chapter drops today on Quibi so be sure to check it out and let us know what you think!
