VIDEO: Stephen Colbert Analyzes the State of the Union on Late Night

When we get hit with the brunt force of a difficult complex news story, leave it to one of the dozen or so Daily Show alums who've become Late Night staples in recent years, the most public and celebrated of which is of course Stephen Colbert, and he did not fail us when it came to the surreal lucid nightmare that was the White House's State of the Union speech. And Stephen Colbert, recognizing his role in explaining politics to the country (or at the very least, the part of the country that agrees with him that things are kind of in a dire state right now), made sure to do a live special after the State of the Union giving the blow by blow and play by play of the speech. Check it out below in order to get the righteous eye rolling that a speech like this deserves.

VIDEO: Conan O’Brien Talks About His Bizzare DNA Test

Conan O'Brien is making a renewed splash in our consciousnesses, forcing us all to go: "Oh man, this guy really is the best, huh?" Conan returned with a sharper and sleeker half hour format, a podcast ("Conan O'Brien Needs A Friend" from Earwolf), and a sharper, more grounded, and often wonderfully nihilistic persona. All of this was on display when Conan O'Brien went on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert after the Super Bowl, and proceeded to put a bow around his incredible stories about his feelings towards his body, which he showed off with great aplomb, and tied it off with the story of the DNA test that shocked his doctors.

VIDEO: Game of Thrones… Uhh… Killed the Dilly Dilly Knight

The ad aired during the Super Bowl and was one of the few exciting ones of the knight. It started out normal enough, as we saw our generation's Allan Ginsberg, the Dilly Dilly Knight, approach, hearing the cries of his beloved catchphrase, "Dilly dilly". And if you roll your eyes and go, "Ugh, more trash for the senses", then take a breath and then watch as the Dilly Dilly knight is violently beaten by a knight almost twice his size. At first you think the Dilly Dilly Knight will get powered up by the power of a Bud Light or something, but as the beating continues and grows more violent we uhh... we sense something is off. This isn't the fun lighthearted Dilly Dilly commercial of old... which is when we discover we're more right than we could imagine.

VIDEO: Ellen Page Issues Impassioned Call For An End To Hateful Leadership

We're at a crossroads in our American history, and we're faced with a simple question, not dressed up in the sexiness of any 1960's style movement: do we want to be better? There are clear political forces in the likes of the MAGA supporters who beat Jussie Smollett for being black and gay, or the boys who harassed a Native American man that say, no, being bad as a culture, where the bully can get more sympathy than their victim if he has the right PR firm, benefits them personally, and they would like to continue down on this direction. However, we have to get better, for the sake of our marginalized communities, and the sake of the world at large, we have to get better, and it is armed with that powerful message that Ellen Page comes to The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to discuss, at time getting emotional, and at all times on message, informed, and discussing the world.

VIDEO: Kermit the Frog Enters Rap Battle on TBS’ “Drop the Mic”

Man, it's weird watching a completely scripted, drama free rap battle where we know deep down that all the participants are good friends, but then again, what, we're going to say no to The Muppets? They're America's greatest entertainers! So lo, and behold, Pepe the Prawn and Kermit the Frog in a deathly no holds barred rap battle against Beaker and Ms. Piggy on TBS' Method Man hosted Rap Battle show, "Drop the Mic". Well, it's time to make the music, light the lights, drop the rhymes and drop the mic! Check out the video of the Muppets pretending they could ever have any real conflict rather than being puppeteers who wrote these ahead of time who have to then go back to work with each other, and were they actually to hurt anyone's feelings, it would result in an extensive HR meeting.

Woman’s Life Saved Using CPR Skills From NBC’s “The Office”

Look. The world is terrifying and dangerous. That's not news to anyone, especially today, and we try our best to make sure we can protect each other from, you know -- all the badness. Take for example auto mechanic Cross Scott who, while driving a customers' car to test it out, found a woman slumped in her seat by the side of the road. He broke open her window and pulled her out and, as the ambulance arrived, proceeded to give the woman CPR using the techniques he learned in the most important and educational of the American ouevre of medical assistant: NBC's The Office.

Empire Actor Jussie Smollett Attacked In Violent Hate Crime

Empire actor Jussie Smollett was attacked in a hate crime in Chicago on Monday night. The assailants first got Smollett's attention by showing the n-word and the homophobic f-word at him, and then proceeded to violently beat him. The assailants then threw a noose around his neck and poured bleach on his body. Before they ran off, the assailants shouted "This is MAGA Country", referring to the president's "Make America Great Again" slogan that white supremacists and those involved in racist encounters -- from the Charlottesville attackers to Nathan Sandmann -- have adopted as shorthand for their racist, homophobic, anti semitic, and xenophobic beliefs.

Maroon 5 Might Play Spongebob’s “Sweet Victory” At the Super Bowl

Even though the pop stars made of flesh and blood may grab the headlines, anyone in the know knows that gen-z and millennial's true patron saint is a little doodle of a pants wearing sponge, known to the greater intellectual world as "Spongebob Squarepants". After the tragic death of Spongebob creator, Stephen Hillenburg, from ALS, earlier this year, fans have rallied together to try to honor the man vis a vis a Super Bowl performance. A Change.org petition received 1.1 million signatures, trying to urge for the song "Sweet Victory" -- the song that Spongebob and company played during a massive football game on land during the now classic episode band geeks -- and Maroon 5 may have hinted that they may just play the song... with a short clip of Spongebob Squarepants during the video advertising their appearance...

VIDEO: Jimmy Fallon Kissed By Camel During Robert Irwin Visit

When it comes to reliable comedy that most of American get get behind at the boozy, but family friendly, hour of 11:30pm, there are few things that hit the nerve cells of the American psyche more than a lovable talk show host getting crawled over on by a bunch of animals he absolutely cannot stand for the life of him. You know, a perfect straight man to an animal trainer who usually acts as if he's not even seeing the man sharing a stage with him feel at all nervous. Jimmy Fallon hit that payload with Robert Irwin, son of the late and brilliant Steve Irwin, a reliable guest who continues to bring spiders that freak out Kevin Hart, and today brings a camel that kisses Jimmy Fallon and little wild African serval cats (they look so much like cute little kittens) that adorably crawl all over Fallon in that pure adorable spirit.

VIDEO: Jeff Bridges Teases Return Of “The Dude” Lebowski

Look. I can be all down on nostalgia, I can be all down on unnecessary reboots, but the moment they come to my neck of the woods!?!? Buddy, I love it. I don't know what to tell you. I can't wait. Case in point, sure it was only a minute and change, but seeing Jeff Bridges on screen in his familiar sweater, with that familiar laid back grin, making the role that, despite any Academy Awards past present and future, will forever define him, Jeff "The Dude" Lebowski, from the Coen Brothers' eternal classic, The Big Lebowski.

VIDEO: Saturday Night Live Reflects Millennial Economic Woes With “Millennial Millions”

This Saturday Night Live sketch, involving a game show where millennials try to win money from an ever greedy baby boomer generation, is interesting in its politics. It starts incredibly progressive and empathetic -- focusing on how baby boomers will destroy the lives of millennials in this ever growing economy that is meant to suffocate those who suffer the most, and the uhh-- tries to play both sides by saying millennials complain too much? The economy has been suffocated by one very selfish generation, and this millennial generation just wants people to recognize that uhh-- your transphobic bullshit won't fly anymore, old man! In any case, Saturday Night Live discussed this economic suffocation in between their okay sketches involving Alec Baldwin in bad costumes in "Millennial Millions", a game show where millennials try to scrounge back whatever money they can from the Baby Boomers who grabbed it from the world.

VIDEO: “The Office” Creator Greg Daniels, Steve Carrell, Reunite For “Space Force”

Last time Steve Carrell and Greg Daniels teamed up together, it was to create the legendary sitcom frying itself in the brain of every millennial and those generations of the future. We are, of course, talking about "The Office". Now they answer a sort of terrible question in a very lovely way: what if The Office was run by... Donald Trump! I guess! The bad president and his 300 hamburgers have inspired a lot of reductive art, although this feels... odder. And somehow better and more special, as the talents behind the office will imagine what the workplace of The Space Force is. Do you remember the Space Force? The paramilitary space organization meant to fight wars in space against enemies who haven't even really presented themselves. Our country sure loves war!

Case in point -- the Academy Awards have announced they will be reuniting the massive cast of Marvel's Avengers franchise a mere two months before we're going to see them do whatever it is they're going to do with Thanos before they slide away to make room for Ms. Marvel, Carol Danvers and The Eternals or whatnot.

Don’t allow it to happen. If there’s a concrete wall in front of you, go through it. Go over it. Go around it. But get to the other side of that wall."

VIDEO: Kevin Hart on The Oscars: “I’m Over It”

Today Kevin Hart appeared on Good Morning America where he said regarding the Oscars: "I'm over it", and when given the incredibly soft ball question of wether or not a father should love his gay son (the answer should be yes), Kevin Hart instead talked about how he was judging the public for not seeing what's in his heart. Presumably he said this right before heading back to the unlikely job of being a movie star where yes men will fawn all over him and laugh very loudly when he makes fun of a gay person.

Let Us Salute Bachelor’s Sloth Girl, Alex D.

Thirteen seasons into a reality show, it's hard to discover too many surprises. Sure, the new bachelor on The Bachelor, Colton, is a virgin, which is certainly interesting, but look, we were all virgins at some point. But were any of us ever sloths? Color me impressed with that! Alex D., from Boston, MA, who was submitted on the show by a friend of hers certainly made the most of her ironic listing by writing down her occupation as "Sloth". Delightful, and even more so when she entered meeting Colton dressed as a Sloth.

Watch her below making her triumphant return to the TV stage on "America's Got Talent", Susan Boyle came on following a glowing, beautiful introduction that showcases her story and why she was exactly so damn popular to begin with. Susan Boyle talks about her feeling of ordernariness, we show the audience on Britain's Got Talent laughing derisively at her presence, but when Susan Boyle belted out "I Dreamed A Dream" from Les Miserables, the audience has nothing to say. What could they say? This was something odd and human and beautiful in a way that they just weren't used to seeing.

Outrage After Accused Offender Bryan Singer’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” Wins Best Drama At Golden Globes

Who knows what the Golden Globes were thinking. In my opinion Black Panther, If Beale Street Could Talk, Blackkklansman and A Star is Born were all much better movies than the tepid "Bohemian Rhapsody". But even quality of cinema aside, it feels questionable that one year after a very memorable, a very honest ceremony celebrating "Time's Up" in the wake of the #MeToo movement, the award for one of the Best Movies went to a man who has been accused multiple times of raping underage teens.

VIDEO: Maya Rudolph Proposes To Amy Poehler at Golden Globes

Look folks. I don't have to tell you no one really respects writers too much. Writers are treated by the rest of Hollywood like this unnecessary cog that, hey, if they weren't so busy they would be writing these things themselves. This is why the bit from Maya Rudolph and Amy Poehler was so brilliant. During their introduction for the Best Screenplay Golden Globe, Maya Rudolph, shaking exaggeratedly, presented Amy with a ring in order to take attention away from the writers who are getting ready to accept their big award! Heck yeah! I'm not weeping behind my writerly visor! Heck yeah!

GOLDEN GLOBES: Bale Thanks Satan, Emma Stone Apologizes For Starring in ‘Aloha’ at Golden Globes

We watch the Golden Globes for a lot of strange moments, and the post modern hosting job from Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh (Golden Globe winner Sandra Oh, no less!), and this year's awards show had several. We had the hosts give everyone in the audience flu shots, we had Maya Rudolph fake propose to Amy Poehler, but for our money, our favorite moment of the weird night was a completely unscripted one. When Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg jokes that "Crazy Rich Asians" is the first movie starring an Asian lead since "Ghost in the Shell" and "Aloha", making fun of how the caucasian Scarlett Johansson and Emma Stone played Japanese characters in them, a lone voice in the distance shouted "I'm sorry".

Kevin Hart Mainly Talks About How Bad He Feels For Himself In “Ellen” Appearance

The video is... cringeworthy. I found it hard to watch. During his six minute spiel to the Ellen DeGeneres audience, Kevin Hart covers how hosting the Oscars was on his vision board, covers how he's apologized for the Tweets in the past (not sorry enough to delete them until he thought they could get him into trouble though, you might notice), about how heroic it was of him to step down (again, no mention of his rancid non apology, where he blamed the gay community for not being able to be happy for him, and not a huge fight when Ellen offered to help the Academy hire him back as host). No mention of the gay community or what he will do to help the gay community.

Louis CK Tried to Get Pete Davidson Fired Over WEED

Look. Louis CK sucks. For the longest time, people expressed that we have to separate the comedian, in all of his sex criminal glory, from the work. But after the leaking of a truly odious, alt right tinged set just days before the New Year, it seems all bets are off. Why even care to separate the art from the artist if the artists work is truly some rancid trash. Comics in the public eye have now allowed themselves to talk negatively about the once untouchable comedian, and Pete Davidson gave one of the oddest revelations about a comedian who is no stranger to those. Apparently during an episode of SNL, Louis CK told the producers of SNL to do something to Pete Davidson at the show due to his use of marijuana.

VIDEO: Will Ferrell Eats Fish Eyeball on “Spill Your Guts, Fill Your Guts”

"Spill Your Guts/FiIll Your Guts" always felt like the cruelest, John Watersesque comedy where Hollywood figures would rather eat cod sperm rather than tell an actor that they didn't like even one of their movies. What's meant to be a gross out segment kind of doubles as an inadvertent satire of rich ass Hollywood phonies. I mean, a segment of this involves James Corden having such a hard time remembering his employees' names on live to tape television to avoid eating a scorpion. That's some post apocalyptic television, baby -- and it all culminates with James Corden eating a bursting turkey testicle to avoid naming his least favorite Will Ferrell movie, and Will Ferrell scooping up and eating a fish eyeball to avoid ranking John C. Reilly, Mel Gibson and Mark Wahlberg in terms of who he would want to work with again.

Chris Farley passed away 21 years ago today, on December 19th, 1997. To say he was a legend is to not give his comedic abilities the proper respect by putting it just into a word. SNL Imagines Life Without Trump With “It’s A Wonderful Trump”

Saturday Night Live has made annoying the president its greatest focus. More than developing any cast member or writer on the show, more than crafting new characters that franchises and kingdoms can be built around. No, the #1 concern of Saturday Night Live is one thing -- annoying the president with an in and out of the newspaper for some dumb bs,Alec Baldwin, in tow. And I guess this one really, really got to him, since after watching the "It's a Wonderful Trump" sketch, the president then went and Tweeted calling for the illegilization of Saturday Night Live and satire in general! And what is "It's A Wonderful Trump"? Well... it imagines a world where Donald Trump was not elected president and-- in a parody of "It's A Wonderful Life" -- the world without a president Trump is infinitely better.

Kimmel Tests Millennials’ Skills In Tuna Can Opening

Let's say you're a company that specializes in marketing a soggy pink mush meant to provide protein. For years everyone has accepted that eating a soggy pink mush that provides protein is incredibly good, and you've sold your mushy protein supplement successfully for a long time. Then, all of a sudden things change and a new generation comes along, and get this -- that generation doesn't want the pink mushes that their parents once ate! Heck, they don't even know how to open the can that looks exactly like a cat food container that the food comes in! Can you imagine such a dilemma!? Well, it's the dilemma faced by one of the most powerful industries of them all: the canned tuna fish industries, which blamed a 40% drop in their tuna fish sales on millennials not wanting or not knowing how to use can openers.

Ariana Grande Asks Fans To Stop Harassing Pete Davidson in Snapchat Story

We live in a strange era, where the creators of your favorite music and movies and whatnot have to absolutely beg their fans not to destroy the lives of whomever the heck is making their favorite thing, so now does Pete Davidson have to announce to fans: I uhh... I won't kill myself. Because apparently that's what Ariana Grande's fans wanted for him? Which in my opinion is low key rude. Asking someone to die? Straight up... I'm going to say it... impolite! In any case, Ariana Grande joined the chorus to say that... yeah, it is rude to ask for people to die. Not polite in the least, in a message on Snapchat, which we've posted an image of below.

Michelle Wolf DESTROYS Donald Trump on Twitter

As you may remember, Michelle Wolf's set was criticized by the famously overly sensitive Trump administration, as Sarah Huckabee Sanders purposefully misconstrued an eye shadow comment that was meant to talk about how she lies. She then continued to lie for the president. So, given that the president now supports Saudi Arabian murders committed by royalty over the people in his own country, Michelle Wolf has the absolute perfect come back.

Late Show With Colbert Creates Adventure Time/Trump Parody

The mid terms have devastated the President's concentration, with the historic turn out and historic losses causing the leader of the free world to shut himself off into his office, showing just passive aggressive anger at many who work in his inner circle, to the point where they had to make a special "Policy Time" to force him to do his work. This led the Colbert staff to take this strange and childish descriptor and take it to its parodic conclusion: a parody of Pendleton Ward's beloved Cartoon Network superhit, Adventure Time.

The comment jokes about Crenshaw's decision to wear eye patch to make up for his lost eye, saying he looks like a hitman from a porno, and when the joke didn't land quite as well as Davidson would have liked, Davidson added, perhaps ill advisedly, added "He lost his eye in a war or whatever".
